  • What is TechExcel DownloadPlus?

    TechExcel DownloadPlus is a file download management application that integrates with TechExcel CRM and ServiceWise solutions. DownloadPlus lets you build a professional download site using your existing FTP or HTTP architecture. DownloadPlus consists of three web-based modules, all of which share the same database:

    • DownloadPlus Admin - the application used to create product lines, define download items, and specify survey questions. The download site is ready for customers after the settings are complete in DownloadPlus Admin.
    • DownloadPlus Analysis - the application used to monitor all download activity and qualify sales leads. All download and survey activity reports are run from DownloadPlus Analysis. In addition, customer or prospect download privileges can be manually changed from this module.
    • DownloadPlus for Customers - the application accessed by your customers or prospects to download applicable files. The DownloadPlus for Customers GUI can be fully customized to replicate your company's existing Web site.

    Installation for all three components is handled through one installation program.

  • What is included with the annual support plan?

    The support plan gives you full access to all of our support services, including:

  • What if I don't buy the annual support plan?

    If you do not purchase the support plan, you can still submit technical support issues via the Web portal for 30 days after registration. After the 30-day period expires, support can be purchased on an annual basis. To purchase the DownloadPlus annual support plan, please click the link below:

  • How do my customers and prospects access DownloadPlus?

    DownloadPlus for Customers can be accessed from any web browser (see browser minimum requirements below). You specify the registration type for customers - instant access to the download site via customer specified login name and password, or password protected login access where an auto-generated password is emailed to a new customer upon registration.

  • Can DownloadPlus be integrated with my existing website?

    Absolutely! The customer pages are built using Active Server Pages technology, and these pages are open for modification. That means that with minimal web-editing knowledge you can customize these files to replicate your existing Web site's "look and feel."

  • What about integrating with other TechExcel products?

    DownloadPlus is a complete, stand-alone solution. However it can be seamlessly integrated with both TechExcel CRM and TechExcel HelpDesk. Download and survey activity is automatically tracked with the customer or employee record.

  • How do I transfer my files to DownloadPlus?

    Because DownloadPlus uses your existing FTP and HTTP servers, you do not need to transfer any files or add any complexity to your network infrastructure. Simply configure the downloadable items in DownloadPlus, and specify the applicable FTP or HTTP paths for each download file.

  • How does DownloadPlus handle security?

    In terms of general security, each user is forced to create a password upon registration (or have one auto-generated and emailed to them). When logging in to DownloadPlus for Customers, the user password is encrypted. Security questions can be enabled to ensure only real users can request new passwords.

    Individual download item security is based on a customer's download privileges, determined by that customer's access settings. Each customer or prospect has a separate access key for each product line. Product lines and access keys are defined in DownloadPlus Admin. This allows you to grant a customer full privileges to one product line, and more limited privileges to a second product line. As a new prospect progresses through the customer life cycle, sales managers can manually assign new access keys to give the customer more download privileges.

  • How does DownloadPlus help generate and qualify sales leads?

    DownloadPlus provides a professional download website for customers and prospects. These new customers or prospects are forced to register before accessing the download site - giving you these new leads' profile information, while at the same time tracking their specific interest. In addition, you can force users to complete online surveys prior to download. The questions on these surveys can capture valuable marketing and sales profile information, streamlining the lead qualification process.

  • What kind of download activity is tracked by DownloadPlus?

    All download and survey activity is tracked in DownloadPlus. This includes downloads of the same product by the same customer, new registrations, and individual survey results. All information is fully reportable in the DownloadPlus Analysis module.

  • Does DownloadPlus support multiple download sites?

    Yes, you can create an unlimited number of download sites with the DownloadPlus Multi-Site Edition. Please contact TechExcel Sales for more information by calling 925-871-3900 ext 5 or emailing sales@techexcel.com.

  • Does DownloadPlus support auto email notification?

    Yes, DownloadPlus can be linked to your existing email server to automatically send customized emails upon registration, to deliver download-specific passwords, after completion of a survey, or simply after downloading a file. If you purchase the annual support plan, you can also manually send emails to a customer or prospect directly from DownloadPlus Analysis, to notify them of new download privileges or product updates!

  • How does DownloadPlus perform for a large customer or prospect base?

    DownloadPlus is designed to handle an unlimited number of concurrent users. Any limitations would be due to your database selection - for example, MS Access is not designed to handle a large number of users. However Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, and other ODBC compliant databases should present no problems with a large customer base.

  • What are the minimum system requirements for DownloadPlus?

    • Web Server: Windows NT 4.0 or 2000, Pentium PC or Server with 128MB memory and 40MB of free hard disk space
    • Databases: MS Access, MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, other ODBC compliant databases
    • Web Browser: MS IE 4.0 and above, Netscape 4.5 and above
  • How do I get started with DownloadPlus?
